It’s a thinking Tuesday at Nana’s Place. Where would we be with Marie Tarver? Brown vs. Board of Education Supreme Court decision 50 years ago which determined that “Separate but Equal” was unconstitutional. Maybe related to the goal of integration encouraged by “Brown,” or maybe because she was a competent instructor, Marie Tarver, an African-American, was hired to teach English at Galesburg High School that Fall of 1954. #blackhistorymonth

It’s a fabulous Friday at Nana’s Place. Where would we be without challenges? “Without Challenge There Is No Change”. Because someone sought change and was not afraid of some challenges we see our First African American Senators and Representatives of the United States. #blackhistorymonth.

It’s a thrilling Thursday at Nana’s Place. Where would we be in the world of baseball without Mr. Jackie Robinson? Mr. Robinson broke the baseball color line when the Brooklyn Dodgers started him at first base on April 15, 1947. #blackhistorymonth

It’s a wonderful Wednesday at Nana’s Place. Where would we be without Hiram Revels of Mississippi, our first black senate, February 25, 1870? Hiram Revels’ brief term ended on March 3, 1871. #blackhistorymonth
