Thank you for trusting us with your whole world. Choosing childcare is a big decision. Here’s how to get the most out of a daycare tour.
Handing your child to someone else, even for a few hours, takes trust. Nana knows that. The best way to feel good about your choice is to see a place for yourself, ask every question you have and trust your gut.
What it means for your child
Here’s what to notice on a visit, age by age.
- Babies: For babies, notice how caregivers talk to and hold little ones. Ask how feeding and nap routines work.
- Toddlers: Little ones this age are busy. Look for safe space to move and play, and ask how the day is planned.
- Preschoolers: At this age, learning and playing with friends go together. Ask what a normal day looks like and how children are comforted when they’re upset.
- School-age kids: Older kids need time to move, rest and do homework. Ask what they’ll do in the evenings while they wait for you.
Try this tonight
Thinking about a tour? Start tonight.
- Write down every question you have, big or small, in your phone.
- Call either building to set up a visit: Peoria at (623) 931-5015 or Northern at (623) 435-2211.
- After the visit, ask yourself, “Can I picture my child happy here?”
Words you can use
- “We’re going to visit a new place today.”
- “What did you like best?”
- “You can ask questions, too.”
At Nana’s Place
We care for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old at our Peoria and Northern buildings in Glendale, with day, evening and overnight care. Tours are always welcome. Book a tour online or call either building, and thank you for trusting us with your whole world.
Questions parents ask
What questions should I ask on a daycare tour?
Ask what a typical day looks like, how children are comforted, how you’ll hear about your child’s day and what to bring. Any question that matters to you is a good question.
Can I visit more than once before deciding?
It never hurts to ask. A second visit, or a visit with your child, can help you feel sure. Call either building to ask what works best.
Choosing care is a big step, and you’re doing great, grown-ups. Every child is different, and that’s just right, because every child blooms in their own time.
